Ideophonic
Ideophonic started in Armando's garage in Brownsville with Alex and Armando sitting there talking about music and trying to write songs. They would take turns, one day Armando would play drums while Alex played bass or guitar and vice versa, or sometimes they would just sit around and play guitar together. After recording a few demos, with Armando on drums and bass and Alex primarily on guitar they began to scourer the city for the right drummer. They auditioned 7 drummers and through a flyer Milton found at school, he came by to try out.
At the time he wasn't the most technical drummer and rough around the edges. But his attitude and determination won the guys over. Armando sat down with him and went through some basics with him and in an unbelievable little amount of time Milton was creating great solid and textured drum beats. His speed, agility and control over his kit blew everyone away. It was hard to believe it was the same person.
After deciding that both Alex and Armando should handle guitar duties they began a search for a bass player. The demos they had recorded attracted hopeful bass players from neighboring cities that were miles away. In the end everyone agreed Joel was the right person. His attitude and personality came in like a fresh breeze cheering up everyone around him. It also didn't hurt that he was a great bass player. Having technical integrated bass riffs really filled up the songs. Reluctantly Joel also stepped up and took over lead vocal duties when the vocalist at the time had an unflattering incident with one the guy's girlfriends. Joel's doubt and shyness in his abilities were soon replaced by confidence and boldness. He was soon bringing beautiful melodies to the table.
Ideophonic was complete and ready to get out into the music world. In the beginning there wasn't a show they wouldn't accept. They tried hard to perfect their stage presence and tweak their songs until they felt right. Ideophonic went on to win second place at the local Battle of the Bands sponsored by the university. They also took the task of recording their first EP themselves. Making a makeshift studio in an unfinished house, and borrowing electricity from the neighbors; the eerie feel of the environment really set the mood they were trying to achieve, which is how the EP came to be titled Haunted Rooms. Soon after completing the recording process they ventured out into a successful small Texas tour. Now back home they continue to do their best at putting on a good show. They are currently writing new material and overall hope to grow as individuals as well as musicians.
