Homer Hiccolm & the Rocketboys
Formed in early 2005, Abilene, TX-based sextet Homer Hiccolm & the Rocketboys has developed a niche as an ambient rock band with contagious melodies and lyrics. A drum-driven framework provides the foundation for soaring guitars, atmospheric keyboards and singer Brandon Kinder's powerful voice.
The band's regional fan base is expanding because of its consistent performances and a recent slot on the Dell Stage at the 2007 Austin City Limits festival. This coveted slot at ACL arose from winning the Dell Lounge's "The Sound & the Jury" contest in which about 600 bands competed. The Rocketboys prevailed in the nationwide contest with a strong contingent of online voting and a final decision from a celebrity panel of judges.
The Rocketboys recently released their second EP, Sing, Bird, Sing. The record showcases a new level of musicianship and songwriting and brings to the table the band's first studio recording in more than two years. The album can be purchased at shows and on iTunes.
